STEM education involves teaching children through a cross-disciplinary approach involving the amalgamation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. These subjects permeate every aspect of today’s society and those that undertake career paths within these fields make active and significant contributions to the world, whether it be through making life-saving drugs and devices, finding new cures or creating innovative new technologies. Yet the foundations for STEM education begin in early childhood, research suggests that Years 3 to 8 is the time frame within which children form their opinions towards subjects like STEM. Therefore, it is crucial that children are encouraged to develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena and the world around them during their time at QIS. As a school, we will look to drive STEM education in its entirety, in order to provide invaluable opportunities for our students to become innovators and inspirational leaders of the wider community and beyond.
