Art and Design is a popular subject with all year groups and aims to improve and enhance existing skill levels and to provide enjoyable lessons in an informal classroom environment.

The department has two well resourced studios in H Block and employs three qualified, enthusiastic teachers that are able to provide instruction and demonstration of a high standard. This enables the students to develop their ability to experiment with different techniques and media using a wide variety of materials. Emphasis is placed on hand/eye co-ordination, the ability to record from direct observation, accurate proportional representation, shading techniques and the ability to apply paint and colour effectively.

Students are expected to produce challenging homework studies over a two-week period and the children are rewarded for effort as well as artistic ability. The standard of the work produced seems to improve year by year and the excellent wall displays reflect the effort and enthusiasm of the students. Emphasis is placed on presenting outstanding lessons that provide challenging topics and assignments that requires independent learning to research and develop studies effectively.

At examination level we use Cambridge IGCSE., AS and A Level syllabi and always achieve results that exceed the worldwide percentage. We are proud of the fact that we have enabled a vast number of talented students to pursue their passion at university level around the world with the majority majoring in Fine Art, Photography, Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design and Fashion Design.
