Alreem Al Aqaily represented Qatar at the World Schools Debate Championship (WSDC) 2021, which is considered to be the World Cup of Debating. The tournament brings together the best school debaters of each nation, and they battle it out to crown the World Champions.
Alreem and her teammates brought glory to the nation, as Qatar reached the knockout stages of the tournament for the first time in her history. Qatar is now ranked the 22nd best English debating nation for the year 2021.
QatarDebate has sent Team Qatar to the WSDC since 2008. After more than a decade of participation, Qatar has achieved this feat thanks to the special group of dedicated, smart and hard-working debaters this year. Alreem was an embodiment of those values, investing more than 200 hours of training alone, in addition to all the tournaments she attended, in order to prepare herself.
Qatar International School is proud of Alreem’s development both as a person and a debater, and we congratulate her on her wonderful achievement.
